10 Best Half Ton Towable Travel Trailers

10 Best Half Ton Towable Travel Trailers

A half-ton towable trailer is a travel trailer that can be towed by a half-ton truck. There are many such travel trailers made for the United States market.

The reason why is that many people in the United States already own half-ton trucks. Therefore, it is only wise to make trailers that their trucks can tow.

Examples of popular half-ton trucks right now include the 2020 Nissan Titan XD, the 2020 Toyota Tundra, the 2020 GMC Sierra Limited, the 2020 Dodge Ram 1500, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, and the 2020 Ford F-150 half-ton. It is important to note that virtually all these modern trucks can safely tow trailers weighing more than 10,000 pounds.

In this post, you will discover the best half-ton towable trailers. These are RVs under 10,000 pounds that can be safely towed by half-ton trucks.

Let’s begin.

Best half town towable travel trailers

Livin’ Lite Camplite

Livin Lite Camplite campers are some of the lightest campers on the market. They weigh less than 2,000 pounds. Because of this, they can be towed by virtually any type of half-ton truck.

The company that makes this RV offers multiple floor plans. The most preferable floor plan is probably the 11FKfloor plan. This is because it has a simple design that is perfect for solo or couple traveling.

The design includes a dinette that can be converted into a bed, a wet bath, and a kitchenette. It is perfect for camping as it provides you with all the basics while allowing you to enjoy true camping, which is all about spending as much time as possible outdoors.

Each Livin’ Lite Camplite is built utilizing aluminum while the frame itself is made of a much tougher material.  The use of aluminum is what partly makes this RV lightweight. It also makes it rust-resistant.

The smallest Livin Lite Camplite models are relatively cheap. New ones go for about $12,000.

Lance 2295

This camper is one of the greatest campers ever made! This is because it provides yacht-level luxury.

The RV features a European design that is extremely stylish. It is so stylish that it will take away your breath when you step into it for the first time. According to RV critics, there is no camper that matches the interior finishing and the dark wood cabinetry found inside this vehicle.

Everything about this camper is extremely modern including its finishing, open floor plan, and amenities.

The Lance 2295 highlights include a rear bath, a front bedroom, and a side dinette.

Despite having all the above features, this RV is under 7,000 pounds RV making it perfect for towing using any reliable half-ton.

The only downside about this upscale RV is its price. It costs more than $50,000 when new.

Airstream Sport

Like the Lance RV above, this RV also costs more than $50,000. This should give you a clue that it is as upscale as the Lance camper mentioned above, which it is.

But before we talk about how upscale this trailer is, let us focus on its weight first. This vehicle weighs around 2,500 pounds. This is obviously weighted any half-ton truck can pull and easily maneuver.

Airstream is to the RV market what Apple is to the smartphone market. Both companies make very popular high-quality products.

This particular Airstream RV, the Airstream Sport, is a classic Airstream model that looks like the popular RVs that were in the fifties and sixties. It is when you step inside that you will realize how modern and upscale it is.

Even though its interior looks retro, it is very cozy. The floor plan includes a front bed, a rear bath, and a side dinette.

As mentioned, this vehicle costs more than $50,000. While this might push you away, it is important to note that Airstreams do not significantly lose their value even over time.

Rockwood Geo Pro 19TH

You can tow this with your half-ton truck or even with your SUV. This is because it is a super lightweight toy hauler

Compact and lightweight, this recreational vehicle goes for less than $25,000. Why so? Because it has a minimalistic design.

While the design of this thing is minimalist – it comes with everything you would expect in a quality camper. Everything includes a fully functioning kitchen and a full bathroom. Of course, let’s not forget that it is a toy hauler, which means you can use it to carry your toys so as to make your camping experience extremely fun and adventurous.

The living area and the toy hold area of this vehicle are bare. They have only 2 fold-away sofas. Some people think this makes this trailer less cozy and this cannot be denied. However, if you do not mind the Spartan feel of this trailer’s living room, it is something you will like straight away and like more with each passing day.

Dutchmen Aerolite

The name of this travel trailer is Aerolite and it kind of gives away the weight. This Dutchman-built RV weighs less than 7K pounds. It is perfect for towing using a half-ton. It is also perfect for families as it is large with multiple sleeping spaces.

In contrast to many campers covered above, this is a more basic construction. However, its interior is quite roomy and has multiple features including a big bathroom.

The 2133RB Aerolite model is quite special. It has a bunk room with multiple sleeping areas. It is perfect for a family.

This trailer goes for just $25,000.

Forest River Flagstaff Micro-Lite

Forest River is a renowned RV manufacturer and this right here is one of the best lightweight campers from them. Its lightness makes it easy to tow using a half-ton truck.

The highlights of this Forest River model include an L-shaped galley, a sofa, and a Murphy bed.

While this is a lightweight and compact unit, the interior is surprisingly room especially in some specific models such as the 21DS.

The interior of the 21DS is quite attractive and it includes a Murphy bed that you can fold away in the morning to create more space. When this bed is folded up, it reveals a couch that is very comfortable.

This half-ton towable goes for only $20,000.

Forest River Rockwood Signature 2304 model

This model is an ultra-lite Forest River model weighing not more than 7,000 pounds.

While lightweight trailers tend to have fewer features than normal trailers, this one is different. It is a half-ton towable unit that shows that a camper can simultaneously be lightweight and feature-rich.

The overall finishing of this Forest River model also feels very residential. This is great because it is not what most people expect from a lightweight camper.

Standard features of this lightweight camper include a Murphy bed, a U-shaped dinette (convertible), a rear bath, an outdoor grill, a powerful AC, a Rubber-Ryde suspension, an LED TV, and a water heater.

Heartland RV North Trail 22FBS

Among the trailers I have reviewed so far, this is one of the most spacious. This is because is long (30 feet), wide and tall. However, it is not at all difficult to tow with a half-ton because it measures roughly 7,000 pounds.

Several things stand out about this Heartland trailer. First, it is a well-finished trailer. Many RV manufacturers cut corners, especially when constructing the non-visible parts of RVs. However, this is not the case with this camper. Its interior is well-finished and looks very upscale.

Second, it has a slide-out. When you extend its slideout, you get much more space especially in the living room; extending the slideout makes the makes the living room much more livable particularly when you are camping with the family.

Third, it comes with multiple key features including reversible booth cushions, a big king-size bed, a furnace, and an air conditioner.

Lastly, it comes with a hidden place for hiding your valuables.

Bigfoot Industries 2500 Series

There are more than five 2500 Series models on the market and they all weigh under 7,000lbs. Some models are as long as 17 feet making them roomy and perfect for three to four campers.

Bigfoot Industries used to exclusively make truck campers. However, the company recently started making travel trailers and they are very good at it.

All 2500 Series machines are classic campers. They have an appealing fiberglass exterior and a luxurious interior.

Standard features in 2500 Series campers include a microwave, an oven, a burner range, a fan, a spring mattress, a porcelain toilet, a living room skylight, a roof rack, a ladder, and stabilizer jacks.

Keystone Passport Elite 175BH

This is a relatively cheap and compact half-ton towable trailer. It is one of the few trailers that you can use to go camping with a big family as it has six sleeping zones.

Probably the most unique thing about this trailer is its insulated walls. These walls stabilize the temperature within the vehicle making it much more warm, cozy, and enjoyable.

There are several Keystone Passport Elite campers on the market. But this 175BH model is the smallest and lightest one. And while it is compact, it has sleeping spaces for six people. The spaces include two bunk beds, a convertible dinette, and a queen bed.

Other features of this model include a wardrobe, a sink, and a faucet, a 2-burner cooktop, a refrigerator, a shower, and a toilet.
